Colorado casinos reported a 14 percent drop in revenues in July, the seventh straight month of declines.
The state’s casinos generated $65.6 million in proceeds last month, besting June’s performance but falling about $10 million short of July 2007, according to the state gaming division.
Central City posted the biggest percentage drop, with revenues declining 20.4 percent to about $6.1 million. Black Hawk, which attracts the most gamblers, experienced a 14.8 percent decrease to $45.7 million. Cripple Creek fell 9.1 percent to $13.86 million.

this measure wasn't passed by the casinos, but by the whiny yuppies who demanded for clean air as far as their eyes see. and not neccessarily establishments used. surperceding the rights of smokers.

You do realize that the vast majority of the losses can likely be attributed to a poor economy and high gas prices, don't you?

Smoking bans in other casino states (before the poor economy and high gas prices) resulted in an average 10% drop in gaming revenues. Consequently there was a 10% drop in gaming TAX revenue and a 10% drop in casino-related jobs.
Colorado is no different than anyone else.
Sure wish we could have at least voted on this one.

I understand non-smokers wanting a smoke free area. My question to the non-smokers is there any room for compromise?? Could we have a smoking section and non-smoking section??? This way everyone has a choice and the Casinos/Colorado maximize revenues. Let's remember we are talking about Casinos, not Health Clubs......Adults come here to gamble, drink and smoke. I guess I am tired of the Nanny government these days.
