Musical group Rage Against The Machine L to R: Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Bob (bass), Brad Wilk (Drums), Zack De La Rocha (vocals).
Rage Against The Machine will bring their angry lyrics and hard-hitting music to the Democratic National Convention for free.
But there's a catch. The band will take to the stage of the Denver Coliseum to support the Iraq Veterans Against the War. And the activist group is encouraging fans to join DNC protesters in order to enter a lottery for one of the 9,000 available tickets.
"The message of the band is highly inspirational," Jeff Englehart, president of the Denver Chapter of the Iraq Veterans Against the War, said at a press conference Thursday morning at Cuernavaca Park. "And it'll drive attention. A band like Rage Against The Machine has a lot of clout."
To get tickets, people should head to Tent State University's Cuernavaca Park headquarters starting on Sunday, August 24, in order to sign up for the lottery.
Organizers said that there may also be some giveaway tickets available through local radio shows.
Tent State University is teaming up with Iraq Veterans Against the War and other activist organizations to drum up attention at the DNC.
Adam Jung, an organizer for Tent State , said that the concert will raise the profile of the various groups coming to the DNC.
"And it obviously gives an incentive for more apathetic youth to come out to Tent State," Jung said.
What: Rage Against The Machine
When: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Denver Coliseum.
To get tickets: According to the organizers, people must sign up for the ticket lottery with a valid photo ID at the Tent State Music Festival Booth at Cuernavaca Park between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24 - Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Winners will be notified by e-mail on Tuesday evening.

And as for the ones calling their genre hippie music and being important last century just goes to show they are not good listeners, too much talking with a mouth proportionate to their a$$ but then again most AACP card holders need to check their hearing aid batteries from time to time.

Say what you will about their music, and the band has certainly faced controversy, but I think they are a great choice. Their lyrics do an excellent job of exposing politically and socially sensitive issues in a very thought provoking way. This band is aware of what happens in the world and back up their beliefs with important messages. Whether you agree with their message or not, they are worth a listen.

Sammy Hagar
Charlie Daniels
Ted Nugent
Gene Simmons
James Hetfield
CC DeVille
Toby Keith
Britteny Spears
Wayne Newton
Prussian Blue
David Allen Coe
Godsmack
Alice Cooper
And my personal favorite-
Frank Zappa
In his autobiography starting on page 315, there is a whole chapter dedicated to Practical Conservatism.
Here's the first paragraph:
"Politically, I consider myself to be a Practical Conservative. I want a smaller, less intrusive government, and lower taxes. What? You too?"
And here are a few Gene Simmons quotes-
"If you don't have the guts to stand up to injustice, where ever it exists (and that means stopping the Germans, the Japanese and the Italians in WW I and WW II ... or the Albanian Serbs in Bosnia ... or the tragedies that keep on occurring in Africa ... or even the Viet Nam War ... Panama ... North Korea ... the list goes on and on) ... One thing in common with all these events: America. America didn't stay and 'conquer' any of these countries."
"(I'm) ashamed to be surrounded by people calling themselves Liberal who are, in my opinion, spitting on the graves of brave American soldiers who gave their life to fight a war that wasn't theirs ... in a country they've never been to ... simply to liberate the people therein."
And here is a site for right wing punk rockers-

I'm a conservative and I think Rage is a good band. Their message is left of socialism, but it's just entertainment, and is typical of the industry. Nice quotes GetReal that's some powerful stuff that you won't hear from Rage. Some of the lyrics from rage try to make America out to be the bad guy all the time, that's the only thing I don't like about them, but it's guys like Gene Simmons that bring them back down to Earth.

I don't get it. Did they re-do the songs and not make them as good this time around? How could the music be great at one time, and then one day not be great? I don't see how the passage of time has anything to do with it. Does not doing anything for 8 or 9 years make their first songs go stale? The have by the way, been touring for the past year as Rage Against The Machine. Before that, most of the group consisted of a band called Audioslave with lead singer Chris Cornell.

RATM is needed now more than ever.
Rage, being the operative term is entirely missing from the American landscape. Americans have allowed complacency and inertia to replace their sense of outrage.
Congress passes bills, the pResident signs them into laws that legalize torture, child rape in front of parents, testicle crushing, are among the ''fraternity pranks" now legal.
The hallmark of Fascist rule is midnight arrests, detaining indefinitely without charge, kangaroo court using evidence hidden from the detainee, statements obtained by torture. All now legal in the land of the 'free'. "Your papers please", is an order now followed and accepted when twenty years ago we would have laughed at the prospect.
What happened? In any other era, Americans would be taking the streets demanding their rights back, throwing out the crooks in office. Why now? The television has us enthralled, entertained and subservient. Propaganda and indoctrination in our schools produce compliant workers just smart enough to run the machinery, and paperwork, but too stupid to realize that they are being screwed.
Rage Against the Machine is the slap in the face Americans need TODAY.
