Regional scene: Granato's sister first Hall of Fame woman

Catherine "Cammi" Granato, the sister of Avalanche coach Tony Granato, will be enshrined this fall into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame - becoming its first female inductee.
Granato is joined by former NHL stars Brett Hull, Brian Leetch and Mike Richter in the hall's Class of 2008, which will receive its induction Oct. 10 at the University of Denver's Magness Arena.
The U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game will take place in the same venue Oct. 11, when DU hosts Notre Dame. The Hall's museum is located in Eveleth, Minn.
Cammi Granato is the all-time scoring leader for the U.S. women's hockey team with 343 points in 205 games.
Hull recorded 741 goals in a 20-year career in the NHL.
Leetch was an 11-time All-Star in 18 NHL seasons.
Richter was a three-time All-Star in a 14-year career as goalie with the New York Rangers.
"I don't think there could be anyone to be the first woman except Cammi (because) she's the greatest women hockey player ever to play," Hull told USA Today.
* Norm Bazin, who served eight seasons as an assistant hockey coach at Colorado College, will leave the Colorado Springs program to become the head coach at NCAA Division III Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y.
SKY SOX ROMP Matt Miller had four hits and six RBI to spark the Colorado Springs Sky Sox to a 21-6 home win against the Tucson Sidewinders in Pacific Coast League play.
Mike McCoy added three hits and five RBI for the Sky Sox.
ROESCH HIRED Lt. Jennifer Roesch, a former Falcons athlete, has been named an assistant coach for the Air Force Academy women's basketball team.
14ERS SET SCHEDULE The NBA Development League's Colorado 14ers will open their season Nov. 28 on the road against the Albuquerque Thunderbirds.
The 14ers host their first home game at 3 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Broomfield Event Center against the Thunderbirds.
HARRINGTON QUALIFIES Colorado Springs resident Michael Harrington fired a 2-under 70 to take medalist honors Monday in a qualifier for the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.
Jon Lindstrom (71, Broomfield), Jason Rudquist (71, Peyton) and John Halverson (71, Steamboat Springs) also earned qualifying berths at Antler Creek Golf Course in Falcon.
The U.S. Mid-Amateur will be held Sept. 6-11 in River Hills, Wis.
DOMINATING The Denver Domination tennis team - Danielle Patrice Mata, Joseph Lassen, Kaley Carmichael, Lauren Musso, Nathan Zackroff, Spencer Erickson and Taylor Williams - won the 18s advanced title at the U.S. Tennis Association's Junior Team Tennis Section Championship in Kearns, Utah, on Aug. 3.
