Superstars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are in talks with a local promoter to host a charity event during the Democratic National Convention Aug. 25-28. My source said the Jolie-Pitt folks are in "conversations" with an unnamed Denver doer, and are nailing down specifics, including the location. Wonder if they'll bring the twins.

Meanwhile, what I do know for sure is that The Fray will be performing during a private gathering of U.S. senators Aug. 25 at The Church nightclub, 1160 Lincoln. The Church also will host the Grammy Foundation's private party with star-studded entertainment from Everclear, Daughtry and The Flobots.

And, Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton are the special guests set to attend Voter Latino Aug. 27 at Bar Standard, 1037 Broadway.

DOING THE TOWN: Your Rocky party gal was leaked a list of good-time gatherings planned by Barack Obama's people during the DNC. I'll fill in the deets as I get them. There's a donor reception at Blue Sky Grill in the Pepsi Center from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 24, DNC Chairman and head cheerleader Howard Dean will lead a welcome reception from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Aug. 25 at the Denver Performing Arts Complex Galleria and Sculpture Park and Chicago's Second City comedy troupe will perform Aug. 26 in the Boettcher Concert Hall.

The yet-to-be- named VP will be feted from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Aug. 27 inside the Colorado Convention Center, and a post- gavel shebang after Obama accepts the presidential nomination is slated for 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Aug. 28 inside the United Club West Lounge at Invesco Field.

OR . . .: For the rest of us who were somehow left off the list of the official post-Obama nomination party at Invesco (the nerve!), Night of Mayhem will rock this town from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Aug. 28 at 24K and Mon arck, 1410 Market St. Twelve of "Colorado's most exotic women" will model Kid Dangerous Grime Couture clothing. Info: 303-522-1601 or mike@lamgworldwide.com. Bottle service reservations: Adrian, 720-238-5173.

POKER PLACE: Want to know if actor Ben Affleck has a poker face? Find out when poker players from across the country team up at the DNC to play a few hands and raise money for paralyzed veterans. The charity Poker at the Ballpark tournament, hosted by the Poker Players Alliance, gets going at 10 p.m. Aug. 26 on the club level of Coors Field.

Affleck is confirmed to play along with pro poker players Andy Bloch and Barry Greenstein. Sponsorships include access to the VIP reception at 9:30 p.m. More info: theheraldgroup. com/ ppa/.

FREEBIE: 1908, a photo exhibit showcasing newspaper photos and front pages from the first Democratic National Convention here, opens at 6 p.m. Aug. 22. The free, public display, which includes a Damon Runyon story along with photographs of the convention hall, presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan and early work of famed photojournalist Harry Rhoads, runs through Sept. 26.

PARTY IN EUPHORIA: Euphoria Lounge and Coffee House, 2048 Larimer St., is hosting a DNC kickoff party from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 24. Free entertainment, appetizers and door prizes. Coffee and adult beverages on you. Euphoria will big-screen TV coverage of the DNC.

EHHH! The Fonz is giving two thumbs up to the Zarlengo Foundation benefit dinner Nov. 8 at the Grand Hyatt Denver Downtown. Happy Days' Henry Winkler is the guest speaker at the event that funds causes such as education programs for children with learning disabilities. Winkler will discuss his experiences of living with dyslexia. Reservations and sponsorships: 303-357-5633.

HEAT BEATER: kuulture, a new nonfat frozen yogurt store in Writer's Square at 15th and Larimer streets, opens for biz Monday. Drop by between 7 and 9 p.m. and you'll get a freebie yogurt with a single topping. Open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

THE SEEN: Singer James Taylor was in town for a few days. He checked out of the Hotel Teatro Friday morning, but he'll be back. I told you Friday that Taylor, along with David Crosby, Graham Nash and Ani DiFranco will perform a variety-type show Aug. 26 at the Buell Theatre. Taylor wrapped up his national tour Thursday night at Red Rocks. According to my spy, Taylor told a bellman that the Teatro is one of his faves.

Taylor's agent Rob Light (who I'm told is the "biggest agent in the world") was playing golf at Cherry Hills Country Club on Thursday.

EAVESDROPPING on a woman and a man in the bar at Elway's Cherry Creek: "The last time I saw you you were in that shirt."

"No, the last time you saw me I was naked."

Penny Parker's column appears Tuesday through Saturday. Listen to her on the Caplis and Silverman radio show between 4 and 5 p.m. Fridays on KHOW-AM (630).
