Series history: The Rockies lead 123-117 overall, including 64-53 in Denver and 63-45 at Coors Field. They lead 5-4 this year, including two wins in three games at Coors Field from June 30 to July 2.
Roster report: Shortstop Khalil Greene (broken left hand), catcher Michael Barrett (broken nose) and pitchers Brett Tomko (strained right elbow), Shawn Estes (broken left thumb), Mark Prior (strained right shoulder) and Tim Stauffer (strained right shoulder) are on the disabled list.
Quickly: Outfielder Jody Gerut, who began his career in the Rockies organization, is 16-for-44 (.364) with three doubles, five homers, nine RBI and nine runs in his past 12 games. ... Adrian Gonzalez is three homers from his second consecutive 30-homer season. The only Padres with back-to-back 30-homer seasons are Fred McGriff (1991, 1992) and Phil Nevin (2000, 2001). ... The Padres are last in the majors with 27 stolen bases. They tied a franchise record by going 19 games without a stolen base, a drought that ended when Scott Hairston stole second in the the ninth inning Wednesday at New York. It was San Diego’s first steal since pitcher Greg Maddux stole second July12 against Atlanta. The Padres also went 19 games without a stolen base from Aug. 24 to Sept. 12, 2004.
