Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama hugs Oprah Winfrey as she campaigns on his behalf in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday, December 8, 2007.
Celebrity media mogul Oprah Winfrey has rented a house in a historic neighborhood near Cherry Creek for the week of the Democratic National Convention, according to a source.
Rent for the house, which is on South Gaylord Street, is said to be $50,000 a week.
A spokeswoman for Winfrey said she didn't know if the talk-show host had rented a place in Denver to entertain guests.
"Her attendance at the convention has not been confirmed," the spokeswoman, who didn't want her name to be published, said.
Winfrey, who for years has been a close friend to U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was among the first popular figures to endorse him.
She helped pull in enormous crowds during Obama's initial campaign events.
Obama will be formally nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate at the convention in Denver later this month. He will give his acceptance speech Aug. 28 at Invesco Field at Mile High.

Does the reporter know Denver? South Gaylord is near Cherry Creek and the Denver Country Club, not Capitol Hill. Not only is the info is wrong, it really has nothing to do with the story. Who really cares where South Gaylord is in relation to Capitol Hill? Why is that even included in the story?

If she really wanted to do something, why didn't she pay for a place for the homeless to sleep, since they are being rounded up and hidden like they don't even exist. You ought to be ashamed Oprah. But then again, obama and his clan are just closet republican elitists. Fake seal, stolen speeches, stolen policies.... words just words. blah blah blah

It's all about money and all of you out there would be doing the same thing's if you had the money to do so as well and when you speak and pass-judgement on those people it is only because of envy. Barack will win and he will be a puppet to the third anti-Christ so hold on folks because we are going for a ride. The election it's self will be closer than 2000 and when the Supreme Court looks as though it is going a certain way, there will be great termoil from with in, and then they will change directions putting someone in who will be mis-lead by the anti-Christ and even though his intentions will be sincere, he will make one grave mis-calculation after another and thus the beginning of a third world war. Laugh now....................

More Democrat waste.
How many poor children would have benefited from that $50,000 going to buy them food, instead of a fatcat like Oprah paying to stare at some politician?
How many poor children would have benefited from the $9.7 million that Obama forced taxpayers to shell out so he could move his speech from the convention site to Invesco Field?
Shame on Democrats. They deserve all the scorn they reap by wasting such extravagant amounts of money on a sleazy stunt like this convention. Do the gameshow on the web, and save the taxpayers.... and poor kids..... the money they're wasting.

Oprah and Obama coming to town. That should really bring in the wackos. I think I'll take a vacation while this flea circus passes through. We can all look forward to lots of loud, boisterous rude folks to roll through right along with them. You know who I'm talking about.

I think it's wrong for Obama to use celebrities to help him into the White House. If you can't do it on your own (ideas, etc.) and have to rely on Oprah's celebrity status, it's pathetic. And Oprah, you need to stick to politics and stop using your name and money to buy Obamas way into the presidency. It's lame and tacky and quite frankly, it's getting old.

Gee, rickg19611, how much money has your neo-con government spent waging war in Iraq? Bet it was enough to give free health insurance to every child in the USA, free housing to every homeless person, and free food to every starving person in the world. Get over it. We're all sick of you and your ilk raging on about how money is spent when your government has been the most expensive in history creating more government and government waste than any in recorded history.

i must've hit a nerve since they took down my post proclaining picture id's were required for securing a ticket. ID required to properly ASSIGN seats based on race (i.e. skin color). the backdrop for the media darling, Boy King Obama, would threaten the white devil if too dark.

There is a brand new $1.4M house that is on the market a few blocks north of Old South Gaylord shops. They have been bringing in lots of furnishings over the last few days and its my guess that this is the house. I looked it up on Zillow and there are no houses with a South Gaylord address north of Alameda, so it must be between Alameda and Louisiana (not much south of Louisiana).
