University of Denver junior golfer Stephanie Sherlock won on the 19th hole during the first round of match play at the 108th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in Eugene, Ore.

* Ashley Tait of Raccoon Creek Golf Course beat Becca Huffer of Overland Golf Course 4 and 3 in a quarterfinal match, but Tait lost in the semifinals, 1-up to Lynette Duran of Foothills Golf Course, at the Colorado Women's Golf Association Match Play Championship at The Pinery Country Club in Parker.
Duran will face Kristin Walla of Aspen Golf Course, a 1-up winner against Janet Moore of Cherry Hills Country Club, in today's title match.
MRI FOR AFA SAFETY Starting Air Force Academy strong safety Chris Thomas, an honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference selection who made 110 tackles last season, is schedule to have a magnetic resonance imaging exam on his right knee today to determine the extent of an injury he suffered Tuesday during the Falcons 'lightning' drill at practice.
SKY SOX WIN AGAIN Christopher Frey drove in two runs to lead the Colorado Springs Sky Sox to a 6-4 victory against the Omaha Royals, the third win of a four-game Pacific Coast League series in Omaha.

ARMSTRONG'S PICK Lance Armstrong, set to race in the Leadville Trail 100 on Saturday, cautioned that nobody should expect him to cross the finish line first.
The favorite in the 100-mile mountain bike race, he said, has to be Dave Wiens, who beat Floyd Landis by 2 minutes last year to win his fifth straight title in a record time of 6 hours, 58 minutes, 47 seconds.
"A race like this takes a lot of experience and endurance. He has that. So, I guess he's the odds-on favorite," Armstrong said. "I would reiterate that I'll be happy if I'm top-5. I don't think I'm in it to win it, as they say."
