Katherine Vincent, a staunch supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton, sits on the porch of her Louisville home.
Hillary Clinton supporters will march through Denver during the Democratic National Convention to show appreciation for the New York senator's historic primary run and urge the party to place her name in nomination.
The city issued a permit Tuesday to Colorado Women Count/Women Vote for a parade on Aug. 26 — the 88th anniversary of women's suffrage and the date Clinton is rumored to be speaking at the DNC.
The group also will team with 18 Million Voices, a national organization of Clinton supporters, for a rally in a yet-to-be-determined Denver park.
"We just want to celebrate Hillary's accomplishments and what she's done for the country as a whole and women in particular," said Katherine Vincent, 55, of Louisville, who is organizing the parade and rally.
Vincent is among those passionate followers who believe Clinton's delegates have a right to vote for her at the convention.
"That's why they were selected," she said. "We think it would actually bring the party together."
Nationwide, Clinton's staunchest supporters refer to themselves as "PUMAs," short for "Party Unity My A--."
They are raising money to pay for buses to Denver, and setting up a headquarters at The Broker restaurant downtown, where people can "check-in" when they arrive in town.
But the efforts to put Clinton's name to a vote may be meaningless.
Clinton, who conceded to Sen. Barack Obama in June, must submit a request in writing to be nominated at the convention. According to published reports, Clinton has decided against doing so and has been urging her delegates to cast votes for Obama.
Meanwhile, the Obama campaign announced Clinton will campaign for the Illinois senator later this month in Nevada and Florida.
Jenny Backus, a senior adviser to the Obama campaign, said Clinton is working closely with the Obama camp, and will continue to be "a tremendous asset."
"Senator Clinton is going to play a critical role in the convention," Backus said.
Clinton is scheduled to speak at an Emily's List gala at the Sheraton Denver Hotel at 2 p.m. on Aug. 26. She will join Michelle Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the event, a celebration of women's suffrage.
Vincent is hopeful Clinton's schedule that day also will include a stop by the rally — which she says will not include any messages that are anti-Obama or pro-John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee.
"We're keeping it positive," she said. "It's a way of saying 'Thank you Hillary, we appreciate what you've done.'"

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Hillary is NOT dead. Obama is dropping in every single poll versus McCain, including those run by typically left-of-center organizations. If he continues to lose ground, continues to play the race card, however inartfully, and takes another hit or two on his "refining" of his positions, questions will be raised by Dem insider power brokers about his "viability". Then all Hill has to do is survive the first ballot at the convention without him being nominated, and then its wide open. Delegates are released after the first ballot (last time I checked, anyway. They may have changed the rules, so feel free to correct me) to vote for "the best candidate to win the election". At that point, the fixers will have already lined up the necessary votes, and she's got a better than even shot at being the nominee. Hide and watch. Mike

So the polls are somewhat scewed. BHO is a lot farther ahead than you may think. McSame has nothing new to offer. He is the empty suit. People who claim BHO has no experience need to look at the facts. Bush had no experience prior to being governor of Texas other than multiple failed businesses which daddy friends bailed him out. McSame graduated in the bottom 5% of his class at the naval academy. BHO in the top 5%. Does being inteligent make you an elitist? I don't think so. McSame deserves honor for his military service. Nobody takes that away, but talk about someone who has been a career politition and is so entrenched in Washington he cant see in the mirror despite his popularity.

I just have to say I read further in the comments and found some answers I've been seeking. Every time I see a quote from a Hillary supporter or a McCainiac it's the same old tired story. You people are listening to the hype created by the far right-wingers and ignoring the facts. Typical Republican strategies are at play here and it's sad to see that the mindless drones who still support Hillary have taken up a Karl Rovian approach to campaigning. "If we don't have anything positive to say about ourselves - it's character assassination time." It's pathetic and moreover scary that you people are so afraid of REAL change that you're willing to blindfold yourselves to reality to see that Obama isn't playing dirty politics and is instead talking about REAL solutions to our nations problems. Hillary burned herself and proved she isn't anything more than a (very) slightly more left version of McCain and she isn't afraid to use the same political tactics that put Bush in the White House twice. And McCain ... well, who is he this week ... fiscal conservative pandering to the far right-wing base ... or has that changed, again. The sad fact is that Hillary is bound to corporate interests as much as anyone in the Republican party.
We need a leader who can lead, not spend his time in office paying back favors.

There is no reason to vote for Obama based on issue or policy. He has changed his mind so much that I don't know what he believes anymore. The only reason left for me to vote for Obama is that he's a Democrat.
Is that enough? Should I vote for him to help keep all the corrupted Democrat politicians in power? The same Democrat politicians who rigged the primary election and selected the candidate that the party leaders wanted. Sen. Clinton won the popular vote, and she received more registered Democratic votes in the primaries than Obama.
Sen. Clinton is the people choice, while Obama is the party leaders' choice.

She didn't win the popular vote. You're holding onto 2000 ... Gore won the popular vote not HIllary. Hillary has conceded that she DID NOT win the popular vote. You're counting Michigan where a candidate wasn't on the ballot b/c MICHIGAN VIOLATED PARTY RULES. What don't you get about that? THe poll numbers FROM ALL SOURCES estimate Obama still would have pulled 40% had he been on the ballot. That completely flattens your contention of a "popular vote".
As far as issues goes ... Even Hillary has said she and Obama are 99% on the same road. Why do you think the 20+ debates they had produced little more than pats on the back for one another - by and large the same platform. Now, if you're looking to vote for the candidate who has more corporate ties than just about any other Dem in history - go Hillary. If not, please round up a few more brain cells and get specific on any significant issues that Obama isn't addressing and addressing consistently. And PLEASE don't tell me you're another one of those "one-issue voters" who are so close-minded they can only promote their own agenda. We're a democracy - not a playground for idealogs and blindfolded partisanship. Again ... the HIllary supporters are sounding more like right-wing nutcases everyday.
If that's the case ... just admit it, register Republican and stop acting as tho you're a free-thinking independent or Dem. It's borderline embarrassing to read Americans who have so little grip on the truth and yet believe so fervently in the lies, deception and fear they're spoon-fed on a daily basis.

Resistance to Obama ain't about policy. It's about character and competence. Millions of us look at BOzo and see a clown who would seriously screw up the country if elected. We would rather elect a man of integrity we don't agree with on everything than a man with no honor or ability who tickles our ears but whom we can't trust. When you express incredulity that we would vote for a Republican rather than Obama, you don't know how you sound to us. To us, you sound like you'd have us vote for a jelly doughnut stamped "Democrat" rather than a competent and honorable Republican. And that's just stupid.
You might as well accept it. Millions of us have concluded -- most of us independently -- that, as a Presidential prospect, Obambi is a sack of ... field apples ... and we will never repent. Our numbers won't shrink; they will only grow. If you want to win in November, you'd better join us. We aren't fighting for just the Party; we're fighting for the country.
