If you didn't get your ticket yet for the Democratic National Convention's community open house at the Pepsi Center, you're probably out of luck.

Four thousand free tickets to the Aug. 22 event - the first public look at the convention hall and stage - were snatched up online in less than 24 hours, the Democratic National Convention Committee said Tuesday.

About 1,000 tickets still were available through Denver City Council offices.

The DNCC and Mayor John Hickenlooper announced the open house Monday. It is a way for the party to thank area residents for having the convention in Denver, and to get more people involved, they said.

The DNCC also is offering a "convention primer" for elementary and middle school children, as well as a tour of the Pepsi Center.

The convention is scheduled for Aug. 25 to 28. The first three days will be at the Pepsi Center, with the final night at Invesco Field at Mile High.

Sen. Barack Obama's campaign and the DNCC are expected to announce today how tickets will be distributed to Obama's speech at Invesco.
