Would a three-game suspension for the Broncos' Brandon Marshall be appropriate?

Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been suspended for three games by the NFL.
It was reported during NBC's Hall of Fame Game broadcast Sunday night that Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall will receive a three-game suspension from the NFL for his violation of the personal conduct policy.
The report went on to say the suspension can be pared to two games if Marshall, who has had three arrests in 17 months along with other off-field incidents, agrees to undergo counseling.
A league source Sunday night said Marshall had not been apprised of any looming penalty. The league also is maintaining that no decision has yet been made, according to a second source.
A decision on Marshall's fate could come down as soon as today.
On Friday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league was in "the final stages" of reviewing Marshall's case and said he expected to make a decision early in the week.
Marshall, former Broncos wide receiver Rod Smith and Marshall's Denver-based attorney, Harvey Steinberg, met with Goodell last month.
If suspended, Marshall can keep practicing with the team until the week before the first regular-season game.

So he will (if the reports are accurate) miss Oakland and San Diego. Man, 2 divisional games without our top WR. Well, the other wideouts had better be ready to pick up the slack. And Brandon had better be ready to get that counseling. Do the right thing, Brandon.

Marshall won't matter in the San Diego game anyway - it's the Raiders game that we'll miss him - and the way I see this season shaping up is we need to sweep Oakland and KC 'cause we'll lose to SD twice. We need 10 wins minimum for the playoffs. 4-2 in the Division and 6-4 outside might be enough.

Yes, he can play in preseason games.
It's obvious that he needs some help, and swift kick in the tail. For that, I'm grateful to see the commish stepping up and making it happen. Let's hope he learns.
However, as a fan of this team it feels very unfair, particularly compared to Lynch in Buffalo.
I feel very conflicted about this.

gonzopozo - '4-2 in the Division and 6-4 outside might be enough.'
you've got to be kidding. san diego will come away with at LEAST that many wins and if they beat us twice, that counts for 6 div. wins, and there's no way they go 5-5 outside to best us by only one game. even in that case they take the division, and unless the jags or browns fall flat, we miss the playoffs. both those teams could easily go 10-6 even in their tougher-than-ours divisions.
bottom line: our other wr's better step it up. can i get a big AMEN and a HALLE-eddieroyal-LUJAH!!
btw: is anybody besides me completely shocked that nate 'over-pursue/what's a tackle?' webster snatched the starting 'mike' LB position away from niko?

Nothing to get to excited about yet gents. Early report that has not been confirmed yet. I'm hoping a one game comes down as Oakland isn't good enough to win even with us missing Marshall. And the guy does need a lesson to teach him to be a better person and hitting a wallet for 1/16 of your yearly income is a big lesson.

What's Rod Smith gonna do to keep him outta trouble? Take him to Blackjack Pizza after the game if he scores a touchdown?

No, it's not fair that Lynch got away with his transgression scott free. But this is what Marshall needs. This is his wake up call. The choice is up to him to make the best of this and buckle down to become a hall of famer or stay on his current path and become one of the biggests busts in NFL history.

I'm more worried about our Defense stopping the SD offense, than I am about not having Marshall on the field. One guy isn't going to win the game. Our defense has to step up and stop LT and our Line needs to put some heat on rivers. That's the only way we can with with or without marshall.

se7en,
Thank you for shedding a little light on this forum. The San Diego game will not be won or loss by Brandon Marshall. The game will be won or loss by the defense. If they can step up and hold Ladanian in check the Broncos can win. If Tomlinson gets 25 touches and puts up 150 yards with a couple scores then it doesn't matter if Brandon plays or not. In addition our running game has to show up and we have to control the line of scrimmage. Granted it stinks to loose Marshall for a couple games, but it isn't the end of the world.

Why should entire organization be punish for one player's actions? NFL should fine by salary percentage starting at 25% and going up depending on issue. Then require 120 hour community service in whatever area the offender involved; along with required counseling. That salary taken should then go to charity in whatever area offender was involved. Wouldn't this approach do more to not only punish the "individual" but help with much needed money for the often not for profit organizations that deal with these issue? The current suspension system punishes organization, other players, fans and NFL has a whole. No doubt Brandon Marshall has some issues. But suspending him for two division games? Imagine Chargers going without LT or Gates for two division games. It could alter season. This suspension could doom Denver's season. Possible 0-2 hole. Losing Marshall hurts a lot more than you think. He is a load to cover and presents matchup problem. Without him Broncos are average at best at wideout and have no other threat such as an LT in the backfield. Get ready for 8 in box, sacks and low rushing yards in first two game. This is going to sting and there's no getting around that. As a fan, I'm upset with Marshall and the NFL. Marshall for putting us in this situation in the first place and the NFL for not having a better system in place. A system that bottom line punishes offender and not those around him.

The Broncos are on the decline as long as Trannyhan is still there. His best days are behind him...(See John Elway.)
And on Monday Night....Get ready for the biggest can of whoop !@#$ that you have ever seen. The Broncos got lucky with a last minute FG miss last season. And then got stomped in their own cribb to follow it up. Good luck stopping the run this season...LMAO

I look at this the same as I looked at loosing Elam. If this is what will cause the Broncos from winning they have more problems than they think. It will be a long season. As far as Elam goes if they score TD's instead of field goals they won't miss him at all. If they need field goals they won't go anywhere anyway.

At least he didn't try to quit in the middle of training camp. Javon Walker dosen't want to play because he knows what's coming he plays his old team. We won't even need Marshall to beat you down. So pick out your best costume and put on some makeup cuz we all know how you raiders like to play dress-up, and stand by for your first of many losses this year.

The Raiders got better, the Broncos got worse...Tell us all like we are 5 how the Broncos can conceivably beat the Raiders. Do entertain us. The Raiders defense alone will win them 4 games and the #6 run offense in all the NFL got even better with Bush and McFadden. Bush was a #1 prospect ranked higher than AP coming out of college.
Its gonna be a long season for the Broncos...

So you're defensive backs are good, but that won't matter once teams run all over you. Raiders were 31st in stopping the run last year and made no steps to try to make it better this year. Jamarcus can't carry a team, he's not bright enough. Also, if he gets hurt than what? tusiasopopo or whatever?

Holemark, as soon as your ego calms down, or the nfl season starts, you'll see how embarrassded you'll be for years to come. Did you guys really need a running back? Heh you're rebuttle for your teams weak upfront was our team's weak upfront too? Yea, we're bad but so are you...lmao. If you're team can't stop the run than your offense won't get as many touches, but I guess you're offensive running abilities make up for that? Our team has taken some steps to try to be better upfront, and what has your team done? Drafted a running back? I guess Al wants every game to be a shootout. You look stupid calling down other teams until your team has a winning season....and don't bring up 8 years ago lol.

Heck, the Broncos for all intents and purposes last year got swept by a 4-12 team. If not for the lucky TO given to Trannyhan.

"NO WR, NO RB, avg QB at best and the best D player just retired..."
-No wr? Now you're just being completely biased. Marshall's 3 times the receiver that any of your team has. We loaded up on receivers, Darrell Jackson, Keary Colbert, and we resigned Brandon Stokley and drafted a mini steve smith. Who do you guys have? Denver's leftovers in Javon walker?
-Obviously you havn't watched us run the ball since shanny took over. and who was our best defensive player that retired? Champ bailey's still there, John Lynch is seeking out other teams before he makes his retirement official. Again, ignorance is bliss.
