Nine Denver nonprofits will receive technology expertise to help boost their efficiency. The first KidsTek Challenge will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Daniels School of Business in the Marcus Commons.
The challenge will provide the nonprofits with free IT assessments and plans, valued in excess of $1,500. The keynote speaker will be Scott Johnson, director of engineering for strategic engagements for Microsoft.
Founded by technology executives in Colorado, KidsTek provides technology education through youth service providers to underserved K-12 students in the state. The organization, together with the Information Technology and Electronic Commerce Department of the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver, are co-sponsoring the event.
The nine nonprofits selected to receive the IT assessments and plans are Longmont Children's Council, Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County, Asian Pacific Development Center, El Centro Humanitario, Positive Connection, Denver Street School, Black United Fund of Colorado, Boulder Pride and Cleo Parker Robinson Dance.
