Timber Dick died Thursday from burns suffered in an automobile accident.

Timber Dick, who suffered burns over 60 percent of his body in a fiery car crash two weeks ago, died Thursday night at the University of Colorado Hospital.

Dick's minivan burst into flames March 29 when it hit a guardrail on Interstate 70 near Floyd Hill and tumbled down a slope.

Good Samaritans Scott Boylan and Andrew Rosenberg as well as other motorists who stopped, were credited with helping to douse the flames and render aid to Dick, who pulled himself from the flaming wreckage.

Dick, 52, was a design consultant and author who ran unsuccessfully for Denver City Council in June 2003. He is the son of former Lt. Gov. Nancy Dick.

Dick was to be recognized by NASA later this month for his design of an high-efficiency engine, his family said. He was president of Tendix Development and also worked with the University of Denver's School of Engineering and Computer Science.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

How sad. Mrs Tilleman-Dick just lost her father, California Congressman Tom Lantos.

That's so sad. I was really hoping he'd pull through. He was a tough guy to have crawled out of that wreck. Best wishes to his family.
