Pitcher Mark Redman has a contusion on the top of his left foot where he was struck by Mark Kotsay's line drive Wednesday night. Redman received treatment on the black and blue area and was the only player at Coors Field on Thursday morning. Trainer Keith Dugger said X-rays were not taken. . . . Todd Helton has a hit in eight of nine games, going 12-for-34 (.353) with five doubles, two home runs and four RBI. . . . Matt Holliday has gone 9-for-21 (.429) while getting a hit in five straight games and has an RBI in four straight games and two each in the past three games.
Scouting report: Arizona Diamondbacks
Series history: The Diamondbacks lead 96-76, including 53-31 at Chase Field, and swept a three-game series last weekend at Coors Field.
Roster: Left-handed pitcher Doug Davis, who was scheduled to have surgery Thursday for thyroid cancer, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday and right-hander Jailen Peguero was recalled from Triple-A Tucson. Left-hander Randy Johnson (back surgery) is scheduled to make his first start this season Monday in San Francisco after making two rehabilitation starts with Tucson. Third baseman Chad Tracy (right knee) and catcher Miguel Montero (right finger) are on the 15-day disabled list.
NUMBERS GAME
24 dates postponed by weather at Coors Field, 26 in Denver overall. Of the 12 games snowed out at home, 11 have occurred in April. Since the Rockies incurred a rainout March 31 in St. Louis, they have had two dates postponed by weather this season after one such postponement last year and none in 2006.
PASSING THE TORCH
Pitcher Josh Fogg, whom the Rockies didn't re-sign, was their player representative. Somewhat by surprise, Jeff Francis finds himself in that role.
"I got designated by Fogg," Francis said. "It's not like it was voted on. For some reason, I started to get e-mails form the union."
HE SAID IT
"We looked at some stuff on video, and his timing (as far as when he gets his front foot down) is not exactly where it was last year. And that's something that'll come. . . . There's certainly no one that'll work any harder trying to find it than that kid."
Alan Cockrell, Rockies hitting coach, on Troy Tulowitzki, who went 3-for-4 on Opening Night but is 4-for-32 since.
