I was delighted to see the March 29th Spotlight article, “Positive notes: DPS teacher brings sound of music back,”
featuring Melissa Grundy’s success in reviving the music program at Abraham Lincoln High School (ALHS).
I’ve been privileged to see first-hand that Ms. Grundy’s musical influence extends beyond ALHS into the greater Denver community through her work with Mile High Community Band (www.milehighcommunityband.org). Through music programs she developed, Ms. Grundy works with adults and kids learning music or instruments for the first time, returning to music after a hiatus, supplementing school music programs, and many other scenarios. As a result, she has parents and kids working together, siblings joining in, and individuals learning together.
Kudos to Ms. Grundy, not only for her successes with ALHS, but also for her work in bringing community and families together through music. Join us!
