Published April 9, 2008 at 12:05 a.m.
* Why here? The Fork offers miles of excellent trout fishing in an area with top-notch accommodations.
* What's hot? Though springtime conditions quickly can change, the Fork has been clear from Aspen to Glenwood Springs. Nymph fishing for trout and whitefish has been very good, and blue-wing-olive mayflies have appeared on warm, cloudy afternoons.
* Fly box: Pheasant Tails, Prince Nymphs, Hare's Ears, RS-2s, red Copper Johns, CDC Loopwing BWOs, BWO Thread Emergers, Para Quill BWOs, Parachute Adams.
* Best time: Late morning to midafternoon.
* How to get there: From Denver, travel west on Interstate 70 to Glenwood Springs. Turn south onto Colorado 82, which parallels the river.
* Ask the experts: Taylor Creek Flyshop in Basalt, 1-970-927-4374.
* Fishing report: For the Colorado Division of Wildlife's complete fishing report, visit RockyMountainNews.com/fishing-report.
