Denver Parks and Recreation Manager Kim Bailey has resigned, Mayor John Hickenlooper announced this morning.
Hickenlooper and City Council members praised Bailey, calling her "talented" and "hard-working."
"We're going to miss Kim Bailey, probably more than you think," Councilman Charlie Brown told Hickenlooper.
Bailey's resignation is effective May 27.
Bailey has accepted a job as a vice president with Outward Bound USA, an outdoor recreation program, which is opening a center in Golden, a city spokeswoman said.
Last year, Bailey came under fire for missing more than 13 weeks of work during a 13-month period. Afterward, she withdrew her name from consideration for a proposed $5,197 raise.
Hickenlooper said Bailey handled the criticism with professionalism.

Let's see...she misses 13 weeks of work in a 13-month period and she takes on a VP role as punishment. That just goes to show it isn't what you know or how hard you work but the connections you make during your career. I don't recall learning this in business ethics class.

This is just sick. We have our priorities hosed up.. this lady should be a janitor, not a VP! (assuming she could even be a janitor!). Pathetic. Outward Bound, what, are you stupid? They also hire lying bastards to be CEO's, get huge bonuses, and hose over the people. What a world.
