We're happy to say that, after two years of cooking study in Chicago, chef Aaron Whitcomb has come home to Denver. He had worked at the late, great Adega before gaining national fame for his creations at Table 6. Whitcomb has broken out his knives again as the new executive chef at Noel Cunningham's Strings. . . . Chris Long is the new executive chef of Gene Tang's Upstairs at 1515, 1515 Market St. . . . Crepes 'n' Crepes, the wonderful Cherry Creek North creperie, has debuted a second location in Writer Square. . . . Jeff Forsberg is the new owner/chef at Boulder's Sunflower Restaurant, taking over from founder Jon Pell. . . . So long Montecito. After turning Montecito South into Mel's Restaurant of Greenwood Village, Mel and Janie Master have shuttered Montecito North, 1120 E. Sixth Ave., and relaunched it as Mel's Bistro and Bar. . . . Newly opened: India's Corner, 8350 W. 92nd Ave., Westminster, from the folks who brought you Masalaa. . . . Coming attractions: Pastry chef Keegan Gerhard's D Bar Desserts, next to Strings. . . . The Penrose Room at The Broadmoor has become Colorado's first restaurant to earn the AAA Five Diamond Award, joining 60 other American eateries for 2008. . . . Hosea Rosenberg of Boulder's Jax Fish House earned the Best Chef award at the Denver International Wine Festival, with Ian Kleinman of O's in Westminster named Most Creative Chef and Jeremy Thomas of French 250 given the nod as Peoples Choice Chef.Eat my words
