Bailey criticizes Rivers for taunt

Champ Bailey says Rivers is "not a respectable guy right now."

Champ Bailey says Rivers is "not a respectable guy right now."

Story Tools

As an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey has lined up and locked down plenty of guys around the league.

But Wednesday, Bailey said there was no defense for Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers' sideline taunting of Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler in the fourth quarter of Monday night's 23-3 Broncos loss in San Diego.

The video has made the rounds of the highlight shows near and far, but after an incomplete pass on fourth down in the fourth quarter, Rivers - as well as linebackers Shaun Phillips and Matt Wilhelm - clearly can be seen jawing at Cutler from the San Diego sideline.

But it was the Chargers quarterback who drew the Broncos' ire.

"And I don't really care for the guy, first of all," Bailey said of Rivers. "He's not a respectable guy right now because you talk too much trash and do this and that, but you're really not a great player in this league right now.

"You're surrounded by great players, but you're not a great player. I think he needs to understand where he stands in this league - where he stands on his team first and foremost."

The incident was a topic of discussion among Broncos players Wednesday as they gathered after the holiday to begin their work week leading to Sunday's season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.

Teammates said Cutler certainly was not happy with what was perceived as a breach of etiquette, but publicly he was measured in his response.

"We've talked about it a little bit," Cutler said. "I'm not going to get into it. It's an unfortunate situation. They talk a lot of stuff, it got heated between the two teams. Personally, I don't think the teams like each other, which is fine.

"It's just going to add to it later next year and the year after that. It should be exciting."

Asked if he had ever done that to another quarterback, Cutler shook his head and said "No."

Rivers said he used no profanity and was only reacting to his defense's play.

"We get a fourth-down stop, Wilhelm and Shaun Phillips, those guys been jawing the whole game with them," Rivers told The San Diego Union-Tribune. "We get a good stop. They are jawing. I'm not anywhere involved. I come out to congratulate them on the stop. I come out to congratulate them, and while I'm out there, yeah, there is some eye contact, but I'm saying 'atta baby' to Matt Wilhelm and Shaun Phillips. Sure, there is eye contact. Maybe there is a smirk. But I am speaking to my guys. That's all that was said.

"I don't think I have to defend myself. I used no profanity, I said nothing personal to anybody on that field. I was out there playing football. We're not in a tennis match. I understand some of the frustration is they've lost four in a row to this team. People don't like losing four in a row."

Rivers also said he was surprised by Bailey's reaction, saying: "He's one guy I've always said we respect him. He's one of the top corners in the league. Out there in the game, I say very little to Champ other than if we do complete one on him - and you don't go after the guy - he'll look at me, I'll grin at him like, 'Hey, we got you.' It's always been a very respectful communication between me and him. That surprises me."

Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler said the incident would come up again when the Broncos face the Chargers next season and veteran cornerback Dre Bly added Rivers had not yet "earned the right to do that."

"They've got a lot of classy guys on that team," Bailey said. "He kind of represents the classless guy on that team. He's definitely lost my respect."

The most telling part is that he didn't pull that stunt until AFTER he was out of the game. It's takes a real "man" to run his trap while hiding on the sidelines...

Posted by DonJuan on December 27, 2007 at 6:09 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Champ is wrong about them having "a lot of classy guys on that team". The Chargers have none. Right behind classless Rivers is self-proclaimed classy Tomlinson.

Posted by Brent on December 27, 2007 at 6:32 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Rivers can't even be a man and admit to his actions. Anyone who watched the game and the Chargers' sideline knows that he wasn't just giving an "attaboy" to his defense on a stop.

What goes around, comes around. Some day, young Mr. Rivers won't be sitting on top of the mountain in 1st place. When that day arrives, the punk with marginal talent won't be so willing to be trash talking on or off the field.

The bottom line is, The Chargers are a one man offense with a below average QB that will follow last years post season performance of “ One and Done”

Come on people, this is football. You fans look like a bunch of little cry babies because you got your feelings hurt. Trash talking has been going on in football forever. You think the Broncos have never talked trash? Just because we normally dont see it, doesn't mean it doesnt happen. And since when does a football player need to be "classy", they are playing FOOTBALL. before you go all high and mighty, what was up with mr. lynch throwing lt's helmet 15 yards. you need to stop being so concerned with other teams being classsy, and take a look at your own team (romanowski spitting in the face of j.j. stokes). Rivers was talking throughout that entire game, not just when he got to the sidelines. If the Broncos got their feelings hurt, so be it. If they don't like it, then maybe they should try to score more than 3 points in a game. Better luck next year, your certainly going to need it. "I'm Tits Mcgee, you stay classy san diego"

Anyone remember a Broncos tight end named Shannon Sharpe? He was one of the worst trash talkers in the NFL! None of you ever called him classless. I agree with some of the posts here -- I think the Broncos got their feelings hurt because they only scored 3 points and looked terrible out there. Fire Bates, fire the Offensive Coordinator, fire Dennison, hell fire the strength and conditioning coach too! Sign Jeremy Bloom to return punts too! That Glenn Martinez isn't that good...

Posted by zonker703 on December 27, 2007 at 8:18 a.m. (Suggest removal)

What a bunch of crybabies. Trash talking goes on all the time in sports, but now we learn from Dr. Bailey that there's classy trash and un-classy trash? C'mon. 'Gotta problem with Philip Rivers? Then shut up and beat him (he's currently 4-0 against the Broncos and 24-7 as a starter). What a bunch of whining losers.

Posted by Brent on December 27, 2007 at 8:31 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Who was the last QB you saw trash talking? We're not talking about guys down in the trenches, or guys talking while in harm's way on the field. Rivers is a gutless QB, trash talking while under the protection of the referees while on the field (can't touch an NFL QB!), and while on the safety of his own sideline.

I don't think you'll find any logical NFL fan that believes that Phillip Rivers is the reason for the Chargers' success. Without the best RB in football, without the best TE in football, he'd be in the bottom 20% of QBs in the league.

The good thing - PR is running out of time to be the spoiled brat 1st place QB - the playoffs are around the corner. Let's see how he performs and how much trash he talks when the Chargers' do their usual January "el foldo".

Posted by HTownJBrown on December 27, 2007 at 8:35 a.m. (Suggest removal)

This all sounds like a bunch of nothing to me. I remember what my coach always told us as players. To stop somebody from talking trash you beat them on the field. If the Broncos would have won the game or have been winning Rivers wouldn't have been trash talking. Why is this a news report anyway? I am sure that nobody believes that CB's don't talk trash almost every play. So why is a quaterback any different? In my opinion Rivers is a garbage quaterback, but, Cutler is not much better if that affected him in anyway. Bring back Elway!

Grow up Denver fans.

The team is in a downward spiral; Shanahan is making poor personnel decisions, and has drafted poorly for more than five years (the idea that the last two years of Broncos drafts have yielded only Pro Bowlers and Hall of Famers is ludicrous, yet seems to be the prevailing notion around town).

The NFL features trash talk, and the notion on the part of the Broncos that they never speak, never incite, never taunt is absurd.

Do you recall the comments of the Pittsburgh safety, Anthony Smith, before they faced New England? After he was burned for a touchdown, Tom Brady ran after Smith in the end zone and jawed at him for 15 seconds. There was little public mention, and the little there was praised Brady for "getting after it". It's too bad the Broncos production on the field is so average that they, and their fan base, have resorted to childishness - blaming the referees and saying that the other teams aren't playing nice.

Also, to the Bronco fan who suggested Rivers isn't a real man, only taunting after he was taken from the game - first of all, simply incorrect. Watch the DVR again - he was talking trash from the initial kickoff. Instead of whining and questioning his manhood, consider the issue of the Broncos manhood - if they were capable of staying with the Chargers, Rivers would have been forced to play the entire game. Instead, the Broncos were so impotent that they couldn't even make it close with the horrendous play of Billy Volek.

Plain and simple - scoreboard baby - a combined score of 64 to 6 in 2007, and 4 losses in a row to San Diego. The Broncos are mediocre. Deal with it.

Brent,
Cant touch an nfl qb? I think Cutler might disagree with you. He was getting killed on the field the other night. There is something in football called a sack. I know this might be a new concept to you, but the opposing team is allowed to tackle the qb.

Posted by Finn on December 27, 2007 at 8:40 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I don't think anyone has a problem with trash talking - that's part of the game. But talk to the guys you're going against, not the opposing offense and quarterback. That's what makes it classless. If Shannon Sharpe was on the field yelling at the opposing tight end because he didn't get a first down then that would be classless and people would say it. Rivers acted like a drunken fan yelling at the players. He knows he's out of the game, will never go against the Broncos offense, and it will be another year before he sees any of our guys. That's chicken$^!*.

Posted by mcas1970 on December 27, 2007 at 8:53 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I think us REAL Broncos fans (and the Broncos themselves) should be focused on the limp-dick play we've seen ALL YEAR and not worry about what some other player on some other team is saying.
Philip Rivers may not be the best QB in the game, but he's also 4-0 against the Broncos. I think maybe he's earned the right to talk trash against a division he and his team has DOMINATED since he took over.
If our players (sweet, innocent angels I'm sure) wanna return the favor, they could start by getting in the end zone on occasion. Cutler certain isn't good enough for the "young and arrogant" talk coming out of his trap.

San Diego Chargers will do nothing once again in the playoffs...lots of hype...if Tomlinson goes down that team will show it's true colors...I loved living out in SD during the whole Ryan Leaf debacle...loved hearing all of the SD fans whining and crying...hilarious...Rivers is very overrated...give him a bit; Norv will ruin that team as well...

WHO CARES ABOUT THE CHARGERS, GENTS?! SERIOUSLY! How about OUR lame-ass team?? San Diego fans in Denver are LAUGHING AT US RIGHT NOW, so I guess fair's fair! lol If someone would sew Rivers' mouth shut, it wouldn't change the fact that we have a tired old coach, and no talent here on our team!

CHARGERS-BRONCOS SERIES HISTORY : Straight from the Losers errr........Chargers website

Original AFL nemeses, the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos have been annual opponents since 1960. They’ve met 94 times in the regular season since 1960, but never in the playoffs. The Broncos lead the all-time series 52-41-1.
Wins in Denver have been tough to come by for the Bolts who are just 12-34-1 in games played in the city surrounded by the Rocky Mountains.

Chargers Record in Playoff Games:
7 wins-12 losses

Super Bowl Champions:
NONE-ZERO-NADA-ZIP

Broncos Record in Playoff Games:
Record in Playoff Games:
17-15

Super Bowl Champions: (2)
XXXII (1997), XXXIII (1998

Bottom line: Rivers and the Chargers suck!

NUFF SAID !

OK...now you guys are starting to act like raider fans with your "how many rings do you have" comments. I usually have a good time smack talking with all the bronco fans out here, but the desparation in your voices these days is hillarious! Lets just face it, Rivers(regardless of your thoughts on his performance as an NFL QB) owns the donks right now. Yeah, the roles have definitely been reversed in the past, but that doesnt hide the fact that Rivers is undefeated against your team. Oh, and lets not forget that you only managed to score two field goals against us this season! So if Rivers is such a horrible QB, what does this say about your team.

Hey guys when you see me around your town with one of my probowler jersies on, try to look me in the eye, try to hold your head up, and remember it is just a game, trashtalking and all.

I think that winning some games might be the important thing they should be talking about.
It will be a long haul getting back to be a winning team with these coaches and cry baby players.

Boo hoo, boo hoo. Bailey's feelings were hurt; he who practices the utmost decorum. And Dre Bly tells it like it is: PR has no credentials so he is out of line. Ha.

If the Broncos won, there would be no issue.

Let's look at how over rated PR did against Denver:

11-19-06 in Denver: down 24-7 after throwing his 2nd pick, PR brings Bolts back to win 35-27 with a rating of 92;

12-10-06 in SD: rating 136, Bolts win 48-20

10-07-07 @ Den, rating 151.4, Bolts win 41-3; Rivers named offensive player of the week.

12-24-07 rating 104; Bolts win 23-3

4 games against Broncos: 64 of 92; 960 yards; 7 TDs; 2 picks; 4 wins.

Tell me again why Biley and Bly aren't angry with themselves?

I think it is hilarious the same people complaining about Rivers talking trash are the same people doing the exact same thing on here! Trash talking is a part of the sport. Chargers did it, and for sure the Broncos did it. Besides it takes two to tango... and I am sure Cutler was saying some nice things right back.

Live in the now people. The Chargers are the better team right now so if, you want to say they need to earn the right to talk trash, beating you twice this year earned the right to talk trash now. Denver you had your moment and I am sure you will have it again. It's a part of life. Take your lumps right now because when you were on top, you guys were for sure dishing it out. By the way, I think I can see why players were annoyed by Sharpe. Listening to him ramble off highlights is so painful I have to hit the SAP on my TV so I can hear some guy in Spanish telll me what happened.

DONJUAN - San Diego must be classless... just as classless as the helmet throwing or how about Champ Bailey running straight to the locker room right after the game with no hand shakes to any of the other players. Reeeaall Classy!!!!

Mickey62060 - I love it when people use the past as their ammo for trash. It only comes out when your team CURRENTLY sucks. I guess by your theory all the 49ers fans can talk all the trash they want to you until you win 5 Super Bowls.

Mighty_mile - Ugly little Stadium???? Did you really go there? Well I am going to take a cue from Mikey62060 and say.... That ugly little stadium has hosted more Super Bowls than your stadium. So BLLAAH! And I think that number is safe until Global Warming has consumed us all. Go back to shoveling snow off your car and driveway.

Posted by KeepinItReal on December 27, 2007 at 11:26 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Mighty_mile you are really stretching for anything right now to make you feel better. First you come with my stadium is pretty and your stadium is ugly smack, then call me out for a cheap shot in response to your cheap shot. Then you come with Boltwagon and sell out streaks. What's next? You have the Nuggest and we have no NBA team?

So in response to your cheap shot... the reason you have the second longest sell out streak is because there is NOTHING BETTER TO DO IN DENVER THAN WATCH THE RODEO YOU CALL BRONCOS FOOTBALL. Ever wonder why the Packers have the longest streak? That is because of the same reason... when they are not churning out cheese, they watch the Packers.

Since this is the time for giving, here is my gift to you Mighty... just accept that your team is not that good. The Chargers beat the Broncos twice... and in fact beat them down. Take it like a man. The only thing worse than a sore winner... is a sore loser. If you need something to make you feel better, at least you will have a higher draft pick this year? Happy New Year!

LT called the Patriots classless after the celebrated on their field. Going after the QB when they have already been eliminated from playoff contention and are beating them bad is stupid and classless. If those Chargers got themselves into a fight they might have been suspended and missed some playoff games.

I played defensive end and I never went after the opposing defenesive end when taunting. What is the point? You don't directly compete against that person. Sounds pretty classless to me.

I do want to thank Rivers by creating a good rivalry. Next year the Broncos will have a little extra motivation when facing them. Every team needs a extra motivation. Another reason why Rivers was a moron for doing what he did and then lying on top of it. STUPID!

Posted by Copperhead on December 27, 2007 at 11:51 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I was looking for a little "old school" football after seeing Philbert mouth off....of course it never came from this pathetic coaching staff. The first and second call on the next offensive series should have been a sideline route called to wherever Rivers was standing on the sideline. JC's job would have been to throw the ball in the right place and B-Marsh's or Tony's job would have been to bust Philbert in the chops (while of course attempting to catch the ball). As a team (including coaches), you should NEVER allow your QB or any other player to be taunted from the sidelines without making them pay whether on the field or sidelines.

As a matter of fact the only two other QBs to have starting records comparable to Rivers' 24-7 start are Big Ben and Kurt Warner. There's no "crying" here by Bailey...he's simply taking a shot at how terrible PR really is. In fact, it's just trash talking back to a guy who thinks he's awesome and needed to be cut down a little bit. He's absolutely right...you take away LT (we all know RBs don't last that long) and Rivers is worthless.

The funny part is the irony of SD crying about the Pats being classless last year, and now doing the same exact thing themselves. Can't have it both ways Chargers fans...and notice LT has kept his mouth shut this time.

Mcas1970
I would agree with most of what you say except the part about “he’s worse than Plummer”. In the ten years Jake played he never achieved a completion percentage of 63%. Jake had more passing yards then Cutler in only two of his ten years as well as matching (or beating) Cutlers QB rating in only two of the ten years. Jake only through for more average yards per pass in only one of his ten seasons.

The kid will prove to be a far better choice!

Just amazes me the childishness and whining we see in these NFL columns. So much vitriol over an essentially meaningless activity.
Bailey, Tomlinson, Bly, Cutler, Rivers, and all the rest, and what they say and do, are irrelevant. Not that they are bad people, but they actually contribute little of value to society, other than occasional euphoria over a win. Most of them are only recently out of their own adolescence, and have neither the experience nor perspective to say anything of any real value. Let them "jaw". They're like kids on a playground, which is essentially what they are.
Why the antagonism by the fans? These venues only show that the NFL is on the same intellectual level as WWF, NASCAR, PBR, and all the silly "reality" shows on TV. But then, it doesn't take a lot to make some people happy...

Posted by Mighty_Mile on December 27, 2007 at 3:40 p.m. (Suggest removal)

yes fmikey- completely irrelevant. What's worse is I think some people here believe they actually play on the team, how else do you explain the use of the pronouns "us" and "we" when referring to the football team
And watch out when "their" football team loses; bottles are thrown, tv's are kicked-in, and occasionally a spouse is struck down. And how disgusting is the NFL culture? Testosterone and waving flags and truck commercials every 3 minutes. It's easy to see how Bush won twice. Alexis de Tocqueville warned about these types of distractions in a democracy which totally occupy the masses while the wealthy impose feudalism on us.
Isn't this a denver news sight anyway charger fan? Someone on this sight said you all had better things to do because you live in san diego. right? so that should mean you'll never log onto this sight again an never make another post, right? good

Yeah...uhh....Spence...like I said before, here we go with all that raider fan "got rings" stuff. So yeah based on the win/loss column between our two teams over the last 40 years, your team is superior. And, based on our lack of super bowl rings, once again your team is superior. However, this article is based on current events, and a riff between two quarterbacks on our current teams. This article is also about a certain player on your team who hasnt done a thing this year(just like your whole team), and as a result is whining all around the NFL about how horrible our QB is. This is the funny part because statistically speaking our QB outshines your QB, and our current team makes yours look like pop warner. Oh and not one pony has picked off our terrible QB in the past three games, not even your SHUTDOWN corner.

Give me a break with the how many rings do you have speach. I am an unbiosed Eagles fan, but the one thing I know for sure, that noone can argue with me about.... "We will not see this rivalry get cleared up in the playoffs this year because contrary to all comments above, San Diego made the playoffs, THIS YEAR... Denver SUCKED, THIS YEAR." Keep your stats, and stop your crying.. Chargers win any battles that are brought up in the articles above. If you wanna shut up a loud mouth, or an arrogant winning QB, then back up your play on the field. Chad Johnson has had a horrible year, and you don't see him running his mouth on ESPN every week. Shut him down and you shut him up. Maybe Brees is only good because he has LT and Gates, but guess what, HE HAS LT and GATES, get over it. So your argument is null and void. Just a stupid argument, Brees went out and led his team to victory, and stared down a QB that has choked, just like he has time and time again. If Cutler can't take a stare and a smirk, then he for damn sure does not belong in the NFL. sincerly yours THE TRUTH!

Hey Espanato, forget a few facts? Your "intelligence" is alarming and is directly opposite of the real FACTS (not idiotic opinions that spew from your mouth).

(1) Of course Bailey didn't pick Rivers off...Rivers barely threw at him the whole game. That's what a shutdown corner does...he takes the receiver out of the game and makes the QB look the other way. I know it's a difficult concept but try to understand that.

(2) Cutler has better statistics than Rivers despite your baseless claim in which the facts were disregarded. Sure, it's not much, but Cutler clearly has better numbers across the board and he's been in the league 2 less years. I guess that's not really important though:
Cutler: 3251 yards, 18 TDs, 14 INTs, 63% Comp%, QB Rating 86.5
Rivers: 3017 yards, 19 TDs, 15 INTs, 60% Comp%, QB Rating 81.4

(3) Bailey is going to the Pro Bowl...how can you say he hasn't done a thing all year? Have you watched more than 2 Broncos games this year to be able to say that? I guess SD fans are omniscent beings that know something the rest of the world does not.

Chargers are not going anywhere this year either...lol..It is funny when you see them losing in a game and they get mad at eachother. It was funny watching LT walk away from Rivers when Rivers sat down by him on the bench a couple of weeks ago. The Chargers are a bunch of babies together when they are losing a game. Yea football has a lot of trash talking...but who is Rivers without LT. And who is the chargers all together without LT? noda!

Bronco fans are the biggest crybabies in the NFL. You are just like the Raiders, living in the past. Congratulations on winning the Super Bowl a decade ago, noone can ever take it away, but you are as far from winning another as the Raiders. Shanahan has not won a single big game since Elway retired. The Chargers are the future of the AFC West so get used to getting beat by them. Tell Chump to actually make a stop against Rivers. Also tell Cutler(miss Jake the Fake yet?) to score more than a Christmas gift field goal. By the way Rivers has 4 wins 0 losses against Denver, and will add two more wins in 2008. Go Chargers!!!

Rivers was quoted by the AP of saying this:

"I ain't really thought nothing more of it,"

That statement speaks volumes about Rivers.

Hey cs...How many games did Cutler play in last year? Take that # away from 16, and that is how many more GAMES Rivers has played in than Cutler. Yeah Rivers has been in the league longer, only as a bench warmer.

Oh, and please re-watch last weeks game and then try to tell me that Rivers did not throw against Champ. Heck even the announcers pointed it out!

Anyone that thinks Cutler will be a better QB than Rivers is out of touch with reality. He may "statistically" be better as an individual QB, but Cutler has NEVER won! Not in college, and certainly not in the NFL. Cutler has never even posted a winning season. EVER!

The Donkey's have won 2 Super Bowls, granted. With Elway. Fans, be prepared for the misery that the 49er's are suffering through. The desire to "hold on to glory" while the rest of the league passes them by will be the MO until there is a new coach and GM in Denver. Until then, welcome to mediocrity at best...

I do feel terribly for Bailey. He must be kicking himself in the arse every single Sunday, watching what his Patriots continue to do, win and win the big games. What a great sports year for New England. The Red Sox win the Series (well, sweep the Series), the Patriots will win ANOTHER superbowl after a PERFECT season, and the Celtics will win the NBA title. Not too shabby (and look for a Red Sox repeat in 2008, while the Rockies struggle to be a .500 team).

As far as selling out stadiums, the Broncos are 3rd, if you consider the Packers played half their home games in Milwaukee until 1992.

Home game sell outs is (according to Elias Sports):

Green Bay 336
Washington 304
Denver 285
Pittsburgh 267

BTW, the streak for Green Bay games will NEVER end as the current waiting list for season tickets is 67500. Denver's wait list? A mere 23,000...

First of all, it's amazing to me how many non-Broncos fans read our teams blogs and/or chats. Hey losers, go read your own team's sites and get off of ours. Next, Phillip Rivers will get his; mark my words. Call it karma, divine intervention, what goes around comes around, or just gettting his, but this arrogant idiot will be brought to his knees by the Broncos. He has done nothing, NOTHING, to be shooting off at the mouth. He's a joke and so are the Chargers. One and done, baby, one and done. I saw the footage. He was definitely saying more than "good job Shaunny, good job Matty". What a joke.
LT says something, you might not like it, but you respect it. Merriman, same way. But this girly boy, nah uh.... no way....
Don't you dare criticize Champ Bailey for pointing this out. I've seen this before from this idiot. Champ is the best and everyone knows it; yeah, yeah, yeah, we sucked this year... oh my God, we sucked.... boo hoo hoo... but you know what.... Who cares! We'll be back.... Mr. Rivers won't be on top for long... We'll be back soon so keep watching, and we'll bring Hell with us boys......(Tombstone reference)...... Rivers SUCKS!!!!!

Seriously I would like to root for SD in the playoffs. I always pull for AFC West teams with the Raiders being an exception. I just don't like Rivers and I believe SD kept the wrong QB. I think Brees is a much better player. I would not trade Cutler for Rivers and I don't think any NFL personnel expert would either. SD has surrounded a less than mediocre QB with a great team.

Dear editor: I flagged a few comments, but perhaps you did not read the posters NAME. That is what the flag was for. I don't care that the whiny a** is a SD fan, I just thought that because the screen name was one of Carlin's Seven Words, you might be interested. Guess not! So here we go, I'll repeat it.

As in, titsmcgee?

Of course, i have to use the spammer's trick so the bots don't catch it.

So now I'll flag my OWN post, maybe you'll see it.

There sure seem to be a lot of bandwagon fans, or, oops, Chargers fans on here. If you're team is so spectacular right now, why are you paying attention to our "crappy" team? Why aren't you basking in the glory of your playoff berth? You know, since it won't last long. You may want to talk about how the Broncos suck but until the Chargers win a Super Bowl, your team is nothing but a bunch of one-and-outers.

By the way, Champ Bailey, a future Hall of Famer and the best cornerback in the league, has every right to tell some little punk like Phillip Rivers to keep his mouth shut. Until he's proven himself as a player, say like Champ Bailey, he may want to keep the trash talking to a minimum. Or is he trying to make the Raiders look like a classy team?

He looked like an even bigger ass when he tried to lie and say he wasn't talking trash. Apparently, Rivers is both classless and stupid. Good luck San Diego with that guy leading the team.

Also, I'm so tired of hearing people saying Broncos fans need to get over Elway. I don't know where this comes from but it's so stupid. Broncos fans are over the fact that Elway isn't playing anymore and are excited for this new chapter for the Broncos. Broncos fans are passionate and just want the team to be the best every year. I guess it comes from being the best for a couple of years. Then again, Chargers fan would have no idea what that feeling is like.

To the person who said that the only reason we sell out games is because there's nothing else to do here, please answer a question for me: If that's the case, then why is there a constant stream of people from your state moving here?

Bottom Line: Phillip Rivers hasn't learned how to be a classy player and Chargers fans haven't learned how not be fairweather fans. I'll take Jay Cutler, Champ Bailey, and being a Broncos fan over that any day.

Philip Rivers is definitely a biatch... L.T. classy..all props, Neal..props, S. Phillips...props, D-line in general...props, O-line...props, WR's...props, but face it S.D. boys, you're only going to go as far as Rivers takes you, and right now he is the 3rd best qb in the AFC West... San Diego has a good team, with lots of good players, but they are underachievers.
They will be the first to tell you that they have more talent than any team in the league, yet they haven't won a playoff game in 10 plus years now??? Would you rather be an over-achiever or an under-achiever? I don't know. But I do know that of the 12 stadiums I've visited thus far on my tour around the country, the San Diego fans have less class than any fans I've come across. That's not hating, that's a fact.
Phillip Rivers is a punk. If I saw him on the street, I'd roll 'em. There is a line between showing respect and not, and Rivers doesn't know that line...neither do the S.D. fans. Of course, when your team has a better record, the only way a 'lessor' team's fan can say anything negative is out of pure jealousy, but one day they'll see it. Boston fans and San Diego fans go hand in hand...both classless and clueless and it's not the internet that allows me to make such accusations...I'd be more than happy to say it nose to nose for any takers... =)

Trash talking is fine if your play speaks for itself.Rivers would be just another Joey Harrington if not for L.T.. Champ was'nt talking about the trash talking it was the scrub doing the trash talking....after he was out of the game I might add. Let's see what he does in the playoffs. My guess is not much. Agreed one and done. Let's see if L.T. shows the same class he did when the Patriots thumped em' and he was crying and would'nt even shake hands afterwards. I'm sure other players take note of a ckicken sh_t player who needs a good solid whallop to bring him back to reality.

Apparantly, the Chargers fans seem to forget about the whining of crybaby LaDanian Tomlinson, after the Patriots "disrespected us on our home field" calling the Patriots "classless." Now they catch a Broncos' team, that is usually on the top of the division, and kick them while they are down. Let me remind San Diego fans of what you try to win in the NFL.....THE SUPER BOWL! Look it up in the dictionary, because the Broncos will be there, AGAIN, before the Chargers burn out their one man team and find themselves where they belong....at the BOTTOM of the AFC West....again! Keep it classy "Merriman the Steroid Cheater" and Phillip "The worst pick since Ryan Leaf" Rivers.
