LIVING GREEN . . .
3rd Denver's ranking on Natural Home magazine's list of cities that are home to the top 10 green-built neighborhoods. Denver earned kudos for the Stapleton redevelopment project, which reused 6 million tons of runway concrete from the former airport to build bike paths and bridges. The top 10 cities:
1 Austin, Texas
2 Chapel Hill, N.C.
3 Denver
4 Grayslake, Ill.
5 Issaquah, Wash.
6 North Charleston, S.C.
7 Portland, Ore.
8 Salem, Ore.
9 Seattle
10 Staten Island, N.Y.
. . . AND SEEING RED
"There's a sense that either Denver or Coloradans run more red lights than other cities. We were in Boston one time and saw someone blow through a light and said, 'That's like Colorado.' And it was a Colorado license plate."

IN THE BAG
The Denver Mail Processing Center ranked second in the U.S. for the number of cards and letters it postmarked Monday, traditionally the biggest mailing day of the year. Those little elves at the center tackled nearly 3.7 million cards and letters, while Phoenix was No. 1, handling just more than 3.9 million.
