To save money, the design team considered altering the foundation, putting the home atop concrete pillars, below.

The change would save $80,000. But the look was far from what the team had embraced for years — and Tina didn't like it.

By reducing concrete use elsewhere in the project, the original foundation plan, above, was saved.
