Simons: Yarn store spins good deals
Published April 21, 2007 at midnight
Owner Carole Jacobs is calling it quits after 17 years as the owner of Ewenique Yarns, 290 Fillmore St., 303-377-6336. Luxurious yarns that originally sold for $4 to $20 a skein have been reduced, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today only, there's an additional 10 percent discount. The store's last day of business will be April 30.
The Aurora location of Wild Birds Unlimited is closing, too. Through Sunday, all merchandise for wild-bird lovers is reduced by 70 percent at 12203 E. Iliff Ave., 303-751-0809. Store fixtures and supplies also are going cheap. The store is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday; then it's gone.
Designer Accents, a trade showroom for home accessories, has reduced wholesale prices by an additional 10 percent from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at 1111 W. Evans Ave., 303-934-2465. Lamps, mirrors, tapestries, statuary, side tables and other accent pieces for the home are reduced, including a Tuscan print that had been $538, now $376, and a folding screen that had been $290, now $174.
Find your measuring tape: It's nearly time for the spring sale at Wesco Fabrics, which has supplied fabric and window coverings to Denver's interior design trade since 1946. The sale runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 28 at Wesco headquarters, 4001 Forest St., 303-388-4101. More than 25,000 yards of drapery and upholstery fabric, some made to sell for $80 a yard, will be $3 a yard. Wesco's showroom sale also offers furniture and accessories from Southeast Asia, European antiques, decorative lighting and gift items.
Some gift-trade sales reps will be selling samples from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 28 at a storefront at 2712 Bluff (at 28th Street), 303-678- 5282, next to Dot's Diner, in Boulder. They have lots of discounted potential Mother's Day, graduation and teacher gifts, including cards, journals, soap, lotions, baby items, chocolates and dishes. For example, scented candles designed to sell for $6 to $40 will be $2 to $17. Totes designed to sell for $10 to $50 will be $4 to $30.
