The average price of a house in the Denver area edged up to $329,783 in August, while the number of homes sold fell slightly, according to a report released today.
The median price of a single-family home was $257,500, a summary of Metrolist data showed.
Home sales dropped to 5,010 in August from 5,025 in August 2006.
"Activity is slowing," said Gary Bauer, who released the monthly statistics on area real estate sales. "August is (the) last prime month of the season" because the school year has started.
In August 2006, the average home price was $320,092, while the median price was $252,900.
Foreclosures continue to have an impact on the market, Bauer said, but there were no significant swings either up or down on prices.
The number of unsold homes on the market stood at 30,827 in August
vs. 31,664 in the same month last year.
