Colorado reclaimed the nations top spot for foreclosure rate in December, after briefly ceding the title to Nevada for one month, according to a report released today.
Colorado had one new foreclosure filing for every 375 households last month, despite almost a 4 percent dip in foreclosure activity from November, according to RealtyTrac, based in Irvine, Calif. RealtyTrac tracks homes in some stage of foreclosure across the country, although some Colorado officials question whether Colorado and Denver are being compared accurately to other states and cities. RealtyTrac stand by its methodology.
Colorado had the highest monthly foreclosure rate nine times in 2006, according to RealtyTrac. Nevadas foreclosure rate last month one for every 392 households dropped to No. 2, following almost a 12 percent decrease in foreclosure from November
