Boys athlete of the week: Alex Bode, Colorado Springs School
Bode, a junior foreign exchange student from Germany, scored all five goals for the Kodiaks in their 5-2 victory against St. Mary's.
Bode, who scored four goals in the first half, was tied for sixth in goals in Class 3A going into Wednesday, having recorded nine of his team's 24 this season.
Girls athlete of the week: Lisa Reyna, Fort Collins
Reyna finished 26th at the Class 5A state cross county meet last season, but the sopho- more has developed into a top contender this year.
Reyna won the Division II title at the Liberty Bell Invitational, with the overall best time of 17 minutes, 40.4 seconds, and led the Lambkins to the division team title.
She started her season by winning the Cherry Creek Invitational.
Team of the week: Grandview volleyball
Grandview, the Class 5A state runner-up in volleyball last season, went into the Eaglecrest Invitational ranked No. 4. But the Wolves of coach Patty Childress came away with the title in the 16-team tournament that featured 10 ranked teams, including five of the 10 in 5A.
Behind stellar play from all-tournament selections Lauren Van Orden, Erica Denney and McCall Paynter, Grandview beat No. 7 Pine Creek for the title. The Wolves also beat 4A's top-ranked Mountain View in pool play, then 3A No. 6 Manitou Springs in the semifinals.
Grandview also received outstanding contributions on the court from Sarah Van Goethem Brianna Gradishar and Jill Anderson.
