Why does microwave popcorn have nutritional information for both popped and unpopped servings? They vary greatly and besides, who eats unpopped popcorn anyway? - Ron

Chalk that up to a quirk in federal regulations. The FDA requires that packaged food carry nutritional information for the food as it was packaged, not as it is prepared afterward for eating.

That means manufacturers would meet the letter of the law just by listing the pre-pop nutritionals, but they voluntarily add the popped data, according to the Popcorn Board.
