Denver County workers received the biggest pay raises in Colorado in the fourth quarter of 2006, according to a new report.

Average weekly wages in Denver rose 6.3 percent to $1,069 in the period, while average U.S. wages increased 4.2 percent to $861 in the fourth quarter, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday.

Douglas County had the weakest gains in Colorado in the quarter, with average weekly wages climbing only 2.1 percent.

Adams, El Paso and Larimer counties - along with Douglas - saw wage growth slower than the national average.

New Yorkers on average brought in wages of $1,781 a week in the quarter, the highest in the country. Rockingham, N.H., saw an 18 percent gain in average weekly wages, the fastest rise in the U.S., according to the Department of Labor bureau.
