Tidbits: Laurie Johnson created LemonAid Crutches and Step With Hope by accident - literally. The plane crash that she survived claimed the lives of her "boys" - her husband, Clyde Johnson, and their 2-year-old son, Macallan - and kept her on crutches for two years. She decided to use her loss as an inspiration to help others in similar situations. "I want to honor them. I am so grateful for the time that I had with them, and I have a new perspective because of it. I'm just so grateful for every moment and every person I've met because of all this," she said.
• LemonAid Crutches designs and produces colorful crutches and matching crutch accessories, called Crutch Wear. Fifty percent of the profits go to Step With Hope, a nonprofit organization Johnson established to offer assistance for people who are grieving the loss of multiple family members. "For people who are going through very tough times, I want to be an encouragement. Not a day goes by that I don't miss the boys, but I'm now able to sit here and feel joy and comfort and peace again."
