Cenveo closing printing facility
90 lose their jobs at Centennial plant

Cenveo is closing its commercial printing plant in Centennial, a move that will throw 90 employees out of work.
The Connecticut-based company also recently disclosed it would close its envelope plant in Denver and cut 171 jobs. The move by the formerly Colorado-based company was part of a massive nationwide cost-cutting effort expected to claim 1,400 jobs.
Cenveo told Colorado's Department of Labor in a notification received Thursday it would "completely close" the Centennial plant by April 15, according to Department of Labor spokesman Bill Thoennes.
Cenveo, a commercial printing company that is also the world's largest envelope maker, did not return a phone call seeking comment.
A Cenveo employee, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of losing severance pay, said the company abruptly called a meeting at the Centennial plant Tuesday and announced the facility would cease operations immediately.
Employees were told to return to the plant today to pick up severance pay.
In a letter dated Feb. 14 and delivered to plant employees, Cenveo said: "As you have been told today, the company has made the difficult decision to permanently close the Centennial facility, effective Friday, February 17, 2006."
It wasn't immediately clear why the Feb. 17 closure date conflicted with the April 15 date Cenveo gave to the state Labor Department.
