NUMBERS GAME
6 goals needed by Stars center Mike Modano to pass Joe Mullen as the most prolific U.S.-born goal scorer in NHL history. Mullen scored 502 goals in 16 NHL seasons before retiring in 1997.
WALL-TO-WALL JOE
It's now accurate to say Joe Sakic has gotten a big head. The Avalanche captain remains as humble as ever, but he's one of 10 players whose images are included in the initial NHL line created by Fathead (fathead.com), the company that features large sports graphics for walls and ceilings. Sakic's image measures 6 feet, 7 inches by 4 feet. Fathead also has produced 10 NHL team logos, including one of the Avalanche. Four Avalanche- related peel-and-stick elements are included.
HE SAID IT
"It was getting a little chilly down there."
Brad Stuart, Flames defenseman, who was a minus-22 with the Bruins but is a plus-7 since his Feb. 10 trade.
