ENGLEWOOD - The Broncos were in contact with specialists Monday to determine when guard Ben Hamilton will return to the team's complex.

Hamilton was not at the team's facility last week for meetings or practice because doctors believed at least a week away might help him recover from symptoms caused by a concussion.

He missed nearly all of the preseason after being injured in training camp Aug. 3. He tried to return the next week but lasted only a few plays and has continued to suffer dizziness when he works out.

Hamilton has visited specialists at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's sports medicine concussion program.

ALEXANDER BACK: The Broncos re-signed tight end Stephen Alexander and released tackle Chad Mustard.

Alexander, who likely could not have played against Oakland because of a calf injury, said he will be ready to play Sunday. Alexander was released Saturday and Mustard added to the roster. Mustard signed Sept. 8 to be in uniform Sept. 9 at Buffalo, then was released Sept. 11.

BIG LEG: Coach Mike Shanahan said Sebastian Janikowski's final field-goal attempt Sunday - it hit the top of the left upright from 52 yards - would have been good "from 75, no question" if the kick had gone between the uprights.
