Backups show stuff as Bills edge Lions

DETROIT - The Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions hope Trent Edwards and J.T. O'Sullivan watch every significant snap this season from the sideline.
If the backup quarterbacks are forced to play, though, they might be able to draw on experience from the exhibition season.
Edwards directed a 90-yard drive that set up a tiebreaking field goal with 1:46 left and Buffalo recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff to seal a 16-13 win over Detroit on Thursday night in the preseason finale.
The Bills play host to the Broncos in the season opener Sept. 9.
O'Sullivan threw a perfect pass on an 18-yard touchdown to Sean McHugh late in the first half for Detroit.
Edwards was 18-of-24 for 182 yards for Buffalo, perhaps solidifying a job as J.P. Losman's backup.
O'Sullivan took every snap for the second straight week and was 15-of-26 for 175 yards and one touchdown.
Starting quarterback Jon Kitna (back) and reserve Dan Orlovsky (toe) did not play.
