Jones won't be wrestling
Titans get court order that derails cornerback's plan

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Titans got a court order Friday that prohibits suspended cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones from participating in wrestling.
Jones was scheduled to make his debut with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling on Sunday in a pay-per-view event.
Citing its contract with Jones, the team said it asked a Tennessee court to intervene in order "to protect our rights in this instance. All NFL players have language in their contracts that prohibit them from engaging in activities 'which may involve a significant risk of personal injury,' " team spokesman Robbie Bohren said in a statement.
"We certainly believe wrestling to be hazardous, and it is obvious from the player's conduct that he is ignoring this aspect of his agreements with the club."
Chancery Court Judge Robert E. Lee Davies agreed in issuing the injunction, which strictly bars Jones from participating in any TNA event, as a "wrestler, spectator, announcer, participant or otherwise. . . ."
Jones was suspended by the league for a year because of several legal scrapes since being drafted in 2005.
Worrick Robinson, an attorney for Jones, didn't return a phone call seeking comment about the judge's ruling.
Jones' agent, Michael Huyghue, said he couldn't immediately comment, and TNA Wrestling declined to comment.
On Thursday, Jones teased his TNA appearance with an interview on ESPN2's First Take, and he defended his decision to wrestle.
"I don't know what you all want me to do. Just sit in the house and be miserable all day?" he said. "I can't do that. I have to keep my spirits up high. I have a whole family to take care of."
The cornerback's latest legal problem emerged just hours after he resolved one of his least serious issues when a judge dismissed three traffic citations.
Jones was stopped June 10 in Tennessee in his orange Lamborghini because the plates did not match those belonging to the vehicle.
Sheriff's deputies said Jones switched the plate from another vehicle he owns. He was cited with a registration violation, as well as a residency violation for having a Georgia license and failing to show proof of insurance.
Jones' attorney said earlier Friday that the charges were dismissed because authorities had incorrect information about the registration and license.
WALSH TRIBUTE: San Francisco said goodbye to Bill Walsh on Friday by making sure his name will stay forever linked to the field at Candlestick Park.
Hundreds gathered there to celebrate Walsh, who died July 30. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom told the crowd that the field at Monster Park would be named after Walsh, although the name of the stadium won't change.
Several of the players key to Walsh's three Super Bowl championships with San Francisco - Jerry Rice, Steve Young and Joe Montana - attended the event.
Montana said Walsh had asked him to tell the players how much he loved them.
"But I don't think he knows how much we loved him," Montana said. "On behalf of all the players: Coach, we love you and are going to miss you."
ETC.: The Jaguars signed free- agent placekicker Aaron Elling and waived rookie receiver Chris Jackson on Friday. . . . Bengals rookie running back Kenny Irons, the team's second-round draft choice, will be out for the season after tearing a knee ligament during Cincinnati's exhibition game Thursday at Detroit.
