NUMBERS GAME
4 consecutive victories had been recorded by the visiting team in the series - until Friday. The longest such streak in the Big 12 Conference is the Nebraska-Missouri series, with the road team winning six games from 1974-79.
CROWDED HOUSE
Friday's attendance, 85,800, set a Memorial Stadium record and marked Nebraska's 282nd consecutive sellout. The old attend- ance record was 85,197, set Nov. 4 vs. Missouri.
WRIGHT FALLS SHORT
Buffs senior defensive end Abraham Wright entered Friday's game as the Big 12 Conference's leader in quarterback sacks, with 11 1/2 - 2 1/2 short of the CU single-season record. Wright appeared to move closer to that mark in the first quarter, when he caught Nebraska QB Zac Taylor and flung him to the ground on third down for an apparent 15-yard loss.
But Wright lost his sack when officials ruled he grabbed Taylor's face mask, keeping alive Nebraska's first touchdown drive. Wright finished his career with 11 1/2 sacks.
HOLLIDAY SPIRIT
Buffs senior tailback Mell Holliday, who attempted to walk on (unsuccessfully) at Nebraska, scored his second TD of the season - a 45-yard run that was the fifth-longest rush against the Cornhuskers this season. Holliday finished with a team-best 67 yards, giving him 193 in his final two games. The Omaha native managed to get 38 tickets for relatives and friends for Friday's game.
VERY NICE START
Tight end Riar Geer, a redshirt freshman, became the first freshman (redshirt or true) to lead CU in both receptions and yards in a season. Geer finished with 24 catches for 261 yards and three touchdowns, including a 14-yard scoring catch Friday.
HE SAID IT
"When you're 2-10, everyone from 'Hawk' (coach Dan Hawkins) to the equipment manager has to look at himself and ask, 'What can we do better?' "
George Hypolite, above, CU sophomore defensive tackle.
