LAS VEGAS — Carmelo Anthony missed the United States’ game against Uruguay on Wednesday night because of a bruised right heel, leaving the Americans without their top scorer in the FIBA Americas tournament.

Anthony is averaging 21.7 points, the highest ever by an American in the Olympic qualifying tournament. He complained of the pain Wednesday morning, though it wasn’t known if he was injured in Tuesday’s victory over Puerto Rico.

The injury wasn’t considered serious, meaning Anthony should return Thursday against unbeaten Argentina in a game that will determine the No. 1 seed in the semifinals.

Michael Redd started in Anthony’s place.
