That's Rickie Lee Jones you heard on campaign commercials featuring the song Have You Had Enough? on the Internet, radio and TV.
Working with members of Squirrel Nut Zippers, Jones recorded the song that lays out a litany of complaints against Republicans.
They made customized versions for every campaign that wanted the spots. Dozens of Republican politicians were targeted by the ads by name, including Rep. Tom Tancredo.
The idea was conceived by Howie Klein, former Reprise Records head, who now has a political blog called Down With Tyranny. "Since he left Reprise he is an activist, trying really hard to bring down the Bush regime," Jones says.
The performer doesn't take credit for Democrats taking the House and Senate, but is pleased to have been involved.
"I'm really proud to have been a part of it. If all this stuff added up to an unprecedented change in power, that's what I'd hoped to be a part of from the moment he was elected."
