You've heard Bad Day so much you'd think Daniel Powter has been all over the place. But his show at the Gothic Theatre is part of his first U.S. tour.

"I made this record for America. I was influenced by American music. For me to tour here for the first time, I have so much energy for it. I can't wait to do it. It's a different sense here, different vibes here," he says.

And despite some rumors you've read, he doesn't dislike the song or American Idol.

"I never said anything like that," he says. "People just write stuff. People just wanted to have a go at me. I'm fortunate and humbled every day that I get to do this. I don't care who I get to play for as long as I get to play for somebody."
