EMMY LAUGHTER

• Frasier holds the record for most Emmys won as best comedy series - five.

• Candice Bergen (Murphy Brown) and Don Knotts (Andy Griffith Show) each won five Emmys for the same role in the same series - an Emmy record.

EMMY HEROES

• Dwight Hemion, music-variety show producer-director; and James L. Brooks, comedy series producer-director, have won the most Emmys, 18.

CARTOON BATTLE

• The Simpsons, for the ninth time, has been honored with an Emmy as best animated series, beating out South Park. The award was announced earlier this week during a program for the creative arts categories.
