NUMBERS GAME
4 time zones in a nine-day stretch for the Rockies, who played in Denver on April 29 (Mountain) then went to San Francisco (Pacific) to Cincinnati (Eastern) and now St. Louis (Central).
HEALING PROCESS
Right-handed relievers LaTroy Hawkins and Ramon Ramirez, on the disabled list with elbow problems, could begin medical rehabilitation assignments this weekend and might be back on the active roster in 10 days.
Hawkins will throw a second bullpen session at Coors Field today. Ramirez, along with Dave Veres and Mike DeJean, threw one inning in a game at extended spring training Monday in Tucson and will throw Wednesday.
Right-hander Byung- Hyun Kim made the fourth of his scheduled six rehabilitation starts for Triple-A Colorado Springs on Monday, allowing one run, six hits and two walks and striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings in an 11-3 win at Portland.
HE SAID IT
"That's a top-shelf velocity fastball. He has a hard, sharp slider and had a curveball that drops in at the back good. That's an awful good mix."
Clint Hurdle, Rockies manager, on the relief efforts of right-hander Denny Bautista during the weekend in Cincinnati.
