ON HOLD
Right-handed pitcher Taylor Buchholz remains in the Rockies' probable pitching rotation - for now.
Manager Clint Hurdle said with an off day today, Buchholz will be pushed back to start Tuesday in St. Louis so left-hander Jeff Francis can pitch Monday on his normal four days' rest.
Right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez is under consideration for a call-up after two strong starts for Triple-A Colorado Springs, but that could be put on hold so he can get another start for the Sky Sox and make a few more adjustments.
Right-hander Byung-Hyun Kim continues his medical rehabilitation assignment with Colorado Springs. He allowed one run in five innings Wednesday at Tacoma.
"That's definitely much better than what has transpired, but he needs to lengthen it out," Hurdle said.
HONORED
First baseman Michael Paulk of Single-A Asheville (N.C.) and right-hander Brandon Hynick of Single-A Modesto (Calif.) were selected the organizational player and pitcher of the month for April.
Paulk led the South Atlantic League with a .424 average. He had eight doubles, one triple, one home run and 17 RBI, plus 16 walks and six stolen bases in six attempts.
Hynick went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in five starts. He allowed two unearned runs in 32 innings with three walks and 22 strikeouts. He held hitters to a .165 average.
HE SAID IT
"I'm very surprised. He's a big name. I was not thinking about that. I knew when he was coming up, but I had to pitch to him. I just wanted to relax and have fun."
Alberto Arias, Rockies right-hander, whose 3 2/3 shutout innings in his major league debut Tuesday included a four-pitch strikeout of Giants left fielder Barry Bonds.
