Three keys

Three keys in the Rockies' 6-4 loss to to Arizona at Chase Field on Sunday afternoon:

1 Right-hander Byung-Hyun Kim got ahead of Stephen Drew 0-2 to open the bottom of the first but walked him, setting in motion a four-run inning that erased the 2-0 lead the Rockies took in the top of the first.

2 With the Rockies scoring two runs and with runners on first and second, Arizona left-hander Doug Davis struck out Jeff Baker swinging and Yorvit Torrealba looking to end the first.

3 First baseman Tony Clark, who capped the four-run first with a two-run home run for Arizona, led off the fourth with another home run, his 23rd multiple-home run game in his career, giving Arizona a 5-4 lead.

Scouting report: San Francisco Giants

Series history: The Rockies trail 89-122 but have a 56-48 edge at Coors Field. The Rockies won the season series a year ago 10-8, including 6-3 at Coors Field. It was only the third time the Rockies have won the season series, the first since 1998.

Roster report: Left fielder Barry Bonds opened the season batting third but has been returned to the cleanup spot with first baseman Rich Aurilia batting third. . . . Outfielder/first baseman Mark Sweeney (contusion, right foot), who began the season on the disabled list, was activated Friday.

Quickly: The Giants' 3-7 start is their worst since they were 2-8 to open 1983. They have not opened a season at 3-8 since 2000. . . . They have not won back-to-back games since Sept. 6-9 last season, a stretch of 28 games. . . . They are playing 21 of their first 34 games at AT&T Park. . . . Sweeney has 139 career pinch hits, tied with Dave Hansen for fifth on the all-time list.

Etc.

Left-hander Tom Martin pitched a 1-2-3 inning in relief in his first appearance on a medical rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Sunday. . . . Center fielder Willy Taveras picked up his first RBI of the season with a squeeze bunt in the second inning, scoring Troy Tulowitzki and cutting Arizona's lead to 4-3. . . . First baseman Todd Helton leads all Arizona opponents with 110 runs scored and 102 RBI. . . . Tulowitzki was 3-for-24 on the trip, but he did single and walk twice Sunday. . . . The Rockies have had a lead in five of their seven losses.
