The Denver police homicide unit is investigating the slaying of an unidentified man outside a fast-food restaurant east of downtown, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said today.
Police received a call just after 11 p.m. Thursday of a man shot near the Popeye's Chicken at Colfax Avenue and Gaylord Street.
The coroner is trying to identify the victim, who was in his 30s and African-American.
Police would not say if there were suspects.
