Earthquake rattles West Slope town

GRAND JUNCTION No damages or injuries were reported after a minor earthquake rattled the small town of Paradox, near the Colorado-Utah border.
The U.S. Geological Survey said seismographs measured a magnitude 2.8 earthquake at 7:46 a.m. Wednesday.
The quake clattered coffee cups and breakfast plates, but few other effects could be felt.
A Bureau of Reclamation official said work he and some employees were doing in the area may have triggered the temblor.
Facility operations specialist Andy Nicholas said his crew was extracting brine groundwater from Dolores River aquifers, then injecting it 14,000 feet into the ground to maintain the quality of water flowing into the Colorado River.
Nicholas said he couldn't say for sure that his crew caused the
quake.
