Murder charge against teen in mom’s death

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

BOULDER — The district attorney has filed a first-degree murder charge against 15-year-old Tess Damm in the death of her mother, Linda, of Lafayette.

Tess Damm previously had been charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and accessory to crime.

The first-degree murder charge puts the teen on par with her boyfriend, Bryan Grove, who police say confessed to strangling and stabbing Linda in early February.

Both Tess Damm and Grove will appear in Boulder District Court tomorrow morning for a preliminary hearing.

Prosecutors say Tess Damm and Grove planned the murder at an International House of Pancakes. They say after the crime, Grove enlisted the help of Jared Guy to bury the body in Green Mountain Cemetery and then dig it back up later that same night, and of Jared Smith, to help stash the body in a Subaru in the garage of the Lafayette home.
