The unrestrained driver of a 2001 Volkswagen Golf that crashed on Santa Fe Drive just south of C-470 early yesterday morning has been identified as Andrew L. Given, 20, of Avon.
Master Trooper Ron Watkins said the crash occurred about 4 a.m. as Given was driving northbound on Santa Fe Drive at a high rate of speed, lost control in a right hand curve, ran off the road, rolling a quarter turn and crashing the roof into a traffic signal light pole.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be contributing factors.
