BRIGHTON A former substitute teacher at the troubled Brighton Charter High School was sentenced today to 90 days in jail and 10 years of probation for sexual contact with three girls.
David Wayne Mundy will be enrolled in the countys sex offender intensive supervision program after serving his 90 days, Adams County Senior Deputy District Attorney Ted Tow said. "We believe justice was done," Tow added.
According to the charges, Mundy taught at least one of the girls at the school, but was no longer teaching there when he first had sexual contact with the girls.
Mundy is the son of David Mundy Sr., the former board president of Brighton Charter High School, who is facing charges of his own that he tampered with three witnesses and failed to report alleged child abuse.
Those charges spring from an overnight hiking trip to Estes Park during which teacher Carrie McCandless, 29, allegedly had "everything but sex" with a 17-year-old student, according to an affidavit.
Investigators said Mundy Sr. interfered with their investigation of the matter.
McCandless, wife of school principal, Chris McCandless, has not yet
gone to trial.
