Moffat County Sheriff-elect Tim Jantz is selecting a woman as his undersheriff, the Craig Daily Press reported this morning, the first in the county's history.
Jantz has chosen Charlene Abdella, former juvenile detective and Drug Awareness Resistance Education officer with the Craig Police Department for the job.
Her job will be to oversee the administration of the jail and patrol units, perform a number of administrative tasks and help run day-to-day operations.
Abdella started working as a dispatcher for the police department in 1989 and later became a reserve office, according to the Daily Press account, then full-time patrol officer and worked her way up to becoming a detective.
She dropped out of law enforcement 10 years ago and is an owner of Pro Image Photography.
Jantz, a Republican, defeated two challengers in the general election for the sheriffs job.
