Violet, a black howler monkey born April 29, has been moved from the nursery to exhibit with her parents in the Tropical Discovery area of the Denver Zoo.
The zoo reports that Violet was being hand-raised by zoo staff because of an injury she sustained after losing her grip on her mothers back.
While recuperating, veterinarians took Violet on daily trips to visit her parents while she was in the nursery.
When she was fully recovered, they reintroduced her to the family and all are getting along fine. Keepers have even observed Violet "howling" along with her parents, according to the release.
Howler monkeys are known for loud and persistent howls or growls.
The zoo also is rotating two African lion cubs, Razi and Zuri, into the big yard of Predator Ridge.
The cubs were born Aug. 2 and had been on exhibit only in the Maternity Den, but grew quickly and now are exploring the larger main exhibit yard.
The zoo will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
