A Denver County judge who presides over traffic cases has been charged with drunken driving in connection with an accident Nov. 9.
Judge Johnny Barajas slammed into the back of a pickup truck near West 26th Avenue and Federal Boulevard, according to police. He is charged with DUI, driving without proof of insurance, following too closely and careless driving.
The judge told Denver's 7 that he takes full responsibility for his conduct and is relieved that no one was hurt in the accident.
Barajas is not hearing cases pending the resolution of the charges. He will be arraigned next week.
The judge said he will enter an alcohol treatment program.
