The St. Vrain Valley School District is considering charging students for a ride on the school bus, the Longmont Daily Times-Call reported today.
First it wants to know what the public thinks, however.
Not required by state law to provide transportation, the district is permitted to charge, under a recently adopted law.
The district is conducting a series of public meetings this month to consider the options, director of support services Rick Ring told the paper.
"We want to consider all options," Ring said. "We havent made any decisions on this."
Last May, a task force recommended a $29 monthly charge to tote student to and from school, with students eligible for free or reduced lunches to pay a lower fee.
