The New York-based architect chosen to help design Denver's new justice center is no longer on the job — a setback for the $378 million project.

The Denver architectural firm klipp announced today that Steven Holl Architects, which was selected to design a courthouse, left the project, effective two days ago.

"After several months of collaboration, it was concluded that the Denver Justice Center Project objectives could not allow (Steven Holl Architects) to design a building consistent with Steven Holl's design philosophy," the local architecture firm said in a statement.

No other reasons were given why Holl had parted ways.

"We announce this decision with regret, and we thank Steven and his firm for a close working relationship for the past eight months," Brian Klipp, president of the local firm, said in a statement.
